I couldn't have written a more cheesy love story if I tried.
It's as formulaic as it gets. It's matey mates. It's clichée. It's shallow. It's repetitive.
It's probably exactly what most people picking up this book wanted to read or at least expected.
So all my points are probably not really a bad thing for the intended target audience.
I myself enjoy a story of this sort every once in a while but this particular one was just too much.
It almost goes into caricature territory with how exaggerated all these tropes are.

The last thing Naomi expects to see while she is photographing wildlife is a pair of dragons. Little does she realise how much her life is about to change. This is a great start to a new series and I look forward to seeing how the new residents adapt to living with humans and how the locals cope with the shifters.

I haven't read much from this author so didn't really know what to expect. Then the start didn't really grab me, but I kept reading & I'm so glad that I did. I ended up enjoying it immensely! The characters were interesting, the premise different. I loved the interaction between Col & Naomi, then between the others from Col's world. I also really loved the new family being built with Col & Naomi at the centre.

Some of the situations solve themselves without much work from the characters, the humans are way too gullible, and some things feel like an afterthought, like the MC having brtothers isn't even mentioned until almost the end, and apparently the Dad and brothers being kinda chauvinists is not important at all, except to say the love interest is not like that (again, this is mentioned practically at the end of the book). Also, there are some inconsistencies, like the male characters, from a different world without technology, NEVER freak out, they know how to work buttons and zippers without issue, and the explanation is "oh, Naomi explained this and that before" WHEN?!! We follow them all the time, and none of that is mentioned. And you'd think hearing about something, like a car, and seeing it for the first time, are NOT the same.
