"http://nwhyte.livejournal.com/1285829.html#cutid3[return][return]This was not so bad, though again I found the politics rather dodgy and it seems to be getting easier and easier to penetrate the Adversary's domain. Lots of quite good character moments, rather stalling on plot. Also rather thin - only four issues of the comic here, bulked out by maps and the script for one of the issues."

I'm actually getting kind of bored now. The dialogue is mostly useless banter, and there doesn't seem to be a cohesive plot taking place; are they trying to go back home (because it doesn't seem like they're doing that much to accomplish their goal)? If not, what's the real motivation behind this story?
Snow's kids were interesting at first, but seeing her be the perfect mother to perfect children while being perfectly in love with their father is so sickly sweet it makes me gag. Little kids have temper tantrums, even loving parents occasionally get frazzled and let their temper get the better of them, and Snow and Bigby's romance falls flat. I'm not sadistically against the characters finding happiness, but this series won me on its grittiness unseen in most of the fairytales it's based on. Future volumes will be picked up with some trepidation.

Great volume. I especially liked Bigby's story and the part where he uses the Israel analogy to scare the Adversary. Brilliant stuff!
Thank you to No Flying, No Tights for suggesting this series
This is probably one of my favourite volumes yet <3 I love those two <3
...In which we catch up with Bigby, Snow White finally gets a happy ending, and Cinderella walks us through a giant diplomatic adventure.
This volume contains the 50th issue special featuring a comic book classic...a wedding.

This is without a doubt one of the best volumes. We spend more time getting to know Mowgli and discovering the Cloud kingdoms. There is a lot more time spent on the Farm than in Fabletown which I always enjoy!

The conclusion to a plotline that I really wanted. The way of going about that was rushed, badly put together and ultimately non-sensical. It truly is unfortunate as the previous volumes with this plot handled it so well.
The Israel equivalent was goddamn awful. If anything the situation is reversed, a militant large nation (with a proxy small nation) fighting and conquering those who are native to the country.
The level of dumb writing hopefully is fully epitomized in this work and disappears following it, though I think that unlikely.
I think a common critique placed against this book is that it appears very misogynistic. I noticed things which might appear this way on either side. The typical woman accepting whatever a scumbag man gives her. There was also the woman who ignores the rules and does whatever, has no idea how to actually do politicking and somehow does it all correct anyway since she's a strong empowered woman. Many have voiced their opinions for the latter and in opposition to the prior. I find both devices awful, though the latter was so on the nose that it ruined it a lot more for me. I do not care so much about politics in fiction, all that matters is if the book is good. And this book certainly is not.

OK, I admit it. I'm a sucker for the happy ending, and the sweet romance.
This volume was endlessly satisfying. And it does have a little political intrigue in the second half for the manly-man types. Love it!
