While one of our favorite couples get their happy ending, Volume 8 of Fables wasn't nearly as complex or intense as previous volumes. Everything happened a little too quickly for my taste and issues that had been plaguing characters for the last few years were solved easily. Makes me wonder why these characters had to suffer for so long when their problems were resolved with so little effort...

Compared to previous volumes, this one was kind of a let down. There's less than usual in the way of actual content (30 pages of filler in the back). And I know I'm touchy, but I was really unhappy that Snow vowed to "obey" Bigby. Totally out of character, in my opinion, and annoying besides. Hopefully the series will pick back up with the next book.

I'd been falling away from this series for a while. The Bigby/Snow drama and wedding just finally did it in for me. Of all the plot arcs, that one felt the cheapest to me, from her pregnancy in the earlier volumes to this neat little knot tying. Nope. I was done after this. The vows, the proposal? Yeah. The series had lost so much of its magic for me. I just couldn't read any more of it.

A very satisfying conclusion to the Bigby and Snow White story arc.

I want to marry Bigby. Well, really I want Wolverine but Bigby reminds me of him. I love my fictional surly men.

Another enjoyable instalment in the series. The cubs are absolutely adorable and I loved the little background touches, like Mr North reading The Wind in the Willows. Bigby's mission behind enemy lines was inventive and exciting and our favourite couple got their happily ever after. Plus there're some new players in the form of the Cloud Kingdom (AKA Cloud Cuckoo Land). Good stuff.

Not my favorite one so far but I love that Snow and Bigby are together. I think keeping the wind baby a secret going to blow up in their face though.

"Wolves" is likely my favourite volume in the series thus far. Mowgli shines in his role as "tourist," Bigby reenters the storyline (huzzah!), the question of the seventh son is answered, AND there is a great lead-in to whatever trouble is being brought about by the changing winds!

This is an outstanding book! It very nearly stands alone from the series; there's enough history woven into it to make the story make sense. But I think having read the previous books makes this one all the richer.

I don't entirely like how Bigby's face is drawn - in a lot of frames, he seems to have forgotten to put in his dentures. But that's the closest to a complaint I have about the art; it's otherwise outstanding. Some of the cover art is breath-taking.

And I do believe I have a massive crush on Mowgli. He's all grown up and terribly appealing in this series. I hope we get to see more of him (and I don't just mean his body, but I won't cry about that either) in the next books.
