In this book, Mowgli is trying to find Bigby to free Bagheera. At the same time we will know how the pups and Snow White are having their Christmas. We have quite surprise with Bigby. And Cinderella is awesome! The book is full of action and has also some "melting heart" moments. I really really enjoyed this one.

I enjoyed this one, but it was Cindy's tale that earned the four stars. I want all of the secret agent Cindy storylines, please!! Also more devious Frau Totenkinder.

Sniffles. I am just so happy!

The 8th volume of Fables puts aside all the characters introduced in the previous volume and goes back to some of my favourites. I don't really care about these new characters so I'm not complaining but why introduce those characters at that moment if you don't need them for what's following? They could have swapped the two volumes and it wouldn't have made a big difference (other than for the time Bigby stays hidden), and it would have closed an arc before opening the next one.

I really enjoyed seeing Mowgli track Bigby. It really makes you realize the reach of Mowgli's abilities and why the Tourists are so important and why they exist. Bigby's mission was also very nice. It's good to see the Fables starting to get back in the Homelands. I also really liked that it showed some intelligence from Prince Charming. He might not be a horrible leader after all. Plus, we get a taste of what's to come and it should be a lot of fun if it stays like this.

Snow and Bigby's love story being amongst my favourite storylines of the series so far, I loved their reunion. I saw in some reviews that for some, Snow forgives Bigby too easily, that it goes against how strong and intelligent her character is but that's not the impression I got. They were never really together. Bigby told her he's been in love with her since the first time they met, Snow refused to pursue the relationship/wasn't ready, she got pregnant while they were under a spell and circumstances made it so that they had to be separated. YES, Bigby could have tried a little harder to be with his family, but Fabletown and the Farm have very clear, strict laws and Bigby isn't exactly the most popular person amongst the Fables so he isn't in the best situation to ask around for favours. And desperation makes you do stupid things. YES, Snow is quickly diving into this marriage but after 400 years, chances are, she's ready for this and knows what the implications are. I'm looking forward to see how their relationship will evolve now that they are officially committed to each other. They have worked well together in the past but it wasn't without tensions and a love relationship is very different than one at work, plus, kids will add a whole other dimension to it.

Speaking of the kids, I love seeing the cubs growing up: they are adorable! And now that the kids are older, hopefully we'll go back to a more active Snow. It's a little sad she gets away from the action just as things are starting to move against the Adversary, after all the years she devoted to the Fables community.

The last issue of the volume was about how Cinderella was dealing with the people of the cloud kingdom. She totally kicks some big butts and she is fun to watch. Also, I wholeheartedly share her views on politics! And bonus, we get an intro to Smalltown.

Finally, I love the inclusion at the end of the volume of some maps and the script of issue #50.

On the other hand, a couple of mistakes jumped at me while I was reading. The first one I can forgive, the second one, not so easily... At some point, we are following Mowgli in Russia. It's more or less the middle of the afternoon. Then it jumps to the Farm, with the narration "at the same time on the Farm" and it's also more or less the middle of the afternoon. The writers have totally forgotten that time difference is a thing, but like I said, I can forgive it. What is much harder to swallow is that at some point, Cinderella climbs the beanstalk, but she climbs it DOWN, to get back to the Farm, when earlier in the same volume, they've established, when Bigby visited the Clouds kingdom, that it's impossible to do that!! Such a big mistake in an otherwise fantastic volume makes me sad.

If Bigby and Snow aren't part of the characters you enjoy following, this volume might be a bit of a dull for you, though the story is well crafted so it might be worth it for you to read it for that reason.

Overall, it might be the one I enjoyed the most so far, definitely put a smile on my face throughout basically the entire read. But I'm aware that it is really cheesy and very different from the other volumes, most likely the calm before the storm.
