Wow. That was a good story. Hard to read in the first half, because you fear the outcome. Really enjoyed the character development in this.
I do wish I could give half stars as this book was a real 4.5 Stars for me. I loved The Who did it nature that had me guessing to the end! I will definitely be checking out more by this author! Great suspense

back on my bullshit. another mystery thriller to add to the pointless arsenal that is my brain. a lot less predictable than anticipated, the pacing lags occasionally, but the story is always interesting. the author writes from multiple perspectives and, while every character is engaging, gardner struggles to voice younger characters well, or rather, accurately. all in all another fun read and i should probably read more philosophy.
5 stars. This exceeded all of my expectations. I read the synopsis at work and knew that I had to read it and I'm so glad I did.
This was my first Lisa Gardner book and I have to say I really liked her writing style. The story was intense and kept me on edge from the very beginning. It felt like I was watching a really good episode of The First 48 or something. It was so heavy and detailed on detective work and it was very fascinating to follow along and try to solve the crime along with the characters. The pacing was great and the character development was spot on. I felt attached to just about everyone.
I think Gardner handled the Telly's character very well. She could've easily made him a cliche and at times it felt like she was going to go down a certain, predictable path but didn't and I was so happy. He was a very complex character and I empathized with him and everything he went through.
Sharlah was a great character and a great example on how to write young characters without making them annoying (she was 13 and felt absolutely genuine) and inauthentic. I loved her spirit and her personality and her stubborness. I think she was so strong to have gone through all that she did at such a young age. Plus, the connection she had with her dog, Luka was the cutest thing ever.
Quincy and Rainie were endearing. I loved them separately, together and the way that they cared for Sharlah. I'm very interested in them as characters and their back story so I think I'm going to start from the beginning of this series and get to know them more.
Overall, if you are into detective and crime work with great characters then this one is for you.

What a great read! I love a good thriller, and I guess this isn't even her best one! I'm excited to pick up some of Lisa Gardner's other novels to see what I've been missing! This one was somewhat predictable, but I LOVED the characters and their interactions with each other
