I picked this book up sort of on a whim, because I was looking for a quick and entertaining read, and it was at the top of the NYT best sellers list that week so that was a good enough reason for my impatient self. I had no idea what it was about when I started, and I was unaware it was part of a series, but now I want to go back and read the rest of the books.

I'm not going to rehash the whole plot because I'm lazy. I'll just say that the story was compelling, the characters were likeable and relatable, and the writing was good enough that I never rolled my eyes or got bored or distracted. It's the kind of book you can read without having to expend a lot of mental energy, but that still keeps your mind engaged and interested, if that makes sense. Palatable is probably a good word.

4.5 stars. A very good crime novel involving profiling of criminal minds and the mindset of foster kids. The solving of the murders got a little confusing with all the people involved and some events were just shy of being believable, otherwise a very good, suspenseful read.

Pretty predictable and not all that adrenaline-inducing like a proper thriller. I wouldn’t recommend, but overall, it was okay!

I think I would have given this book 5 stars if I hadn’t flipped to spoil the ending (intentionally). It was the perfect mixture of suspense and psychology, and now I want to read everything of Lisa Gardner’s.

By far one of her best! I could have finished in one day if I had the time. Anybody that is a mystery or thriller fan would love to live with an FBI profiler. Well in this book Sharalah gets the chance. She is the foster daughter of Quincy and Rainie and to be able to see how they think and work through crimes would be so interesting. Most people have a past and in this book Sharalah's past is part of the plot and it makes for some good reading.

This book was a good one! Sister trying to prove her brother innocence when his foster parents were murdered. This kept you wondering if and why he would do such a thing. A good easy read to enjoy!

Slogged through this one... good but not great.

The book felt a little too drawn out and the ending seemed a little far fetched but I still had trouble putting it down and it was an enjoyable read.

Great author and writing- I was hooked right away
