I really love how Lisa Gardner writes and I’ve read many of her books. I really enjoyed this one in particular! The ending was not as expected and it kept me wanting more after each chapter ! I love how complex all of the characters were in this book. Made it easy to love and feel for them ! Definitely recommend this one!!
I did really enjoy this story. I loved how it altered from each characters perspective in different chapters. Even though I guessed the outcome I still enjoyed the book right till the end.

This was the first Rainey and Quincy book that I have read but thankfully it didn't really matter. The main focus of the book are Telly and Sharlah Nash, two foster children who were born into an addict fueled abusive family. When Telly was 9 and Sharlah was 5, the abuse went too far and Telly was forced to take action to protect himself and his sister. After, the two siblings who had been very close, were placed in foster care separately. The story picks up after Rainey and Quincy take steps to adopt Sharlah who has been in their care for 3 years.
The story is told from different points of view... Telly, Sharlay, the Sheriff, the Tracker, Rainey and Quincy but it was never confusing. The pace kept you on the edge of your seat. I really enjoyed this one and if the author's other books are just as good I will have to go back and read up on Rainey and Quincy.

I love Lisa Gardner's books and this was no exception. The ending sort of felt like she gave up, though. So much exposition. But super entertaining and captivating, as usual.
Really enjoyed this book. Had a few twists and turns I didn't expect!
I don’t think Lisa Gardner can do any wrong. Holy cats this one stressed me out.
The twists and turns in this were incredible and I loved following every character as they tried to unfold the mysteries around Sharlah and her brother Telly. I truly felt that Lisa Gardner did every character in this story justice by giving them depth, growth and their own tragedy to overcome.
Sharlah and Telly were heartbreaking characters whose childhoods haunted them from the very start. I think each was given a clear voice and mind very early on and I found myself rooting for them throughout the story. What was even more heartbreaking was how real Sharlah's young voice was throughout this story--she had lived through and seen so much but was still a levelheaded girl who loved her brother and her adoptive family. Seeing that level of tragic maturity made me hold my breath, hoping for only the best.
As I have come to realize in previous Quincy & Rainie stories, Lisa Gardner has created two incredibly fun and stubborn characters in Quincy and Rainie, so pairing them together just makes for an even better ride. In my opinion, they would make any plot or story more enjoyable to read.
