Not gonna lie, it kinda is like PLL but c'mmon if you thought differently it's on you.
I actually did enjoy it, but I NEED the next book NOW!

Not too bad.

I really enjoyed the switching between the five girls and seeing the drama each of them goes through (even though 90% was boy drama, 5% friend drama and 5% murder drama) - not my favourite mix.

Overall, it was a nice, quick read. The ending was neat and the storyline was very well done. Waiting patiently for the second book :)

This was really good!! I really enjoy a solid YA mystery/suspense/drama story, and "The Perfectionists" pulled me in so quickly! I NEED the next book asap!

The main characters, Julie, Parker, Mackenzie, Ava, and Caitlin, are really interesting characters, and each of them felt very well thought out and written. I love to see friendships grow between girls, and am really glad this wasn't one of those "girls are catty to each other" relationships. Also, this book passes the Bechdel Test, which is cool, and far too uncommon in YA books.

I'm only docking a star because the relationship drama (like between Caitlin and Josh, and Mack and Blake) just felt a little cheesy and predictable at times. Also, finding clues seems to be a little too Scooby-Doo easy for these girls. Just felt a tad unrealistic. Nevertheless, I'm still going to keep reading! I can't wait to see what happens!!

The thing I don't like about this genre is that if it is continued as a series, into another book, there is a high chance the culprit would not be found at the end of the first book. And it makes me mad because I fell in love with all the characters, whether it was our Ava or Parker or Julie or Mac or Caitlin. And it made me mad because I can't read fast enough and these characters have everything to lose.
I so hope I can find out who the culprit is at the end of the next book.
P.S. In the acknowledgement portion, the author quoted Alfred Hitchcock's “Always make the audience suffer as much as possible,” and yes, that's exactly how I felt. Now onto the next book. I hope I won't die from suspense until the end of the second book.

It's PLL with new characters. But still a fun read. I can't wait to read the follow up book. I do hope it's only 2 books and not a long drawn out series like PLL became.

Let me be honest. I wasn't planning on reading this. I saw the cover, saw the author, and read the summary and backed off. I like Sara's writing, but her books are all the same. Rich girls who make stupid mistakes and now are being tormented about it. I read about it for fifteen books in her Pretty Little Liars series, I wasn't planning on it again. But of course I put myself through the torture because though I wasn't a fan of this one, I want to know what is going to happen.

Sara's writing is great, she sucks her readers in with no problem. The story flows and it keeps your attention. That isn't the problem. I have already said it but this is so similar to Pretty Little Liars. Sara Shepard is a commonly known author now, since both of her books (Pretty Little Liars and The Lying Game) had become TV shows, but she always sticks with the same murder mysteries, with rich girls who break the law and try to get out of it. It is boring now. I'm over it.

The characters were well developed, I understood the girls and what was going on in their lives. Some had tragic backgrounds, another was cheating on her boyfriend. Same old. The one thing I hated most about all of them is that, they planned a fake murder in the middle of class, exactly how they would do it, what they would use, ect. and expecting no body to hear them? Really? Then they are so shocked when Nolan is murdered the same way. It really didn't shock me. Sometimes there were clues right in front of their faces and they didn't even notice. Huh? It just frustrated me a lot.

Like Pretty Little Liars there are little subplots too. Who is hooking up with their friend's boyfriend, who is trying to get with the new guy, who is being blackmailed into something. All five girls have something else going on that really doesn't relate to the actually murder. I honestly think this is what kept my attention the most. I'm pretty sure I know who the killer is, all the evidence is pointed right at them. You never know though.

Pretty good. Not what I expected but I had a bad vibe from the teacher in beginning. I love her books but I always guess what happens. I also suspect Jeremy. Sadly. I love him but oh no.

Ava, Caitlin, Mackenzie, Julie and Parker are framed for the murder of Nolan Hotchkiss.
The girls are thrusted into a new world of secrets and lies as their perfect world comes crumbling down around them.
Each chapter focuses on a different character and keeps rotating throughout the book. This made me keep reading to find out the fate of each of the characters.
As a fan of Sara Shepard, I'm happy to say she hasn't let me down.
