This book was everything I dreamed it would be and more. I could not put it down. I wept at the end, in the best way. I haven't shared books with y'all in a while, but this is too good not to share. The story of a mother's love for her daughter and womanhood as a whole... absolutely breathtaking. So poetic; the writing style was impeccable. I was IN italy with these characters.
This was the most BEAUTIFUL summer read!

After her mother passes away, Katy takes their planned vacation to Positano, Italy.
My favourite thing about this book was the description of Italy and all of the food! This transpored me straight to Italy. It made me want to buy a plane ticket!
I found Katy to be an incredibly selfish and codependent person. At the beginning I found that she had no personality other than being Carol's daughter. She cannot think for herself. She cannot make a single decision (big or small) without first asking for her mother's advice. She doesn't know how she can go on living without her.
Her love for her mother was incredibly self-centered. Like it was completely improbable that Carol could have had a life outside of being a mother. How did Katy know nothing about her mother's past? Katy's selfishness completely pulled away from the emotional impact of the story.
I really liked how Katy's trip not only forced her to grow into her own person, but also allowed her to see the human side to her mother. She had her mother on a pedestal and believed her to be perfect.
We all deal with grief different, but Katy treated her husband like crap. She treats him like a 2nd class citizen, like he can just be throw away like trash. I hated how she treated him. This definitely made me empathize less with Katy.
How did she jump back in time?? Time travel? Mental breakdown? Dream?
