Heart heart heart, this book has so much heart that I was misting up in my eyes for basically the entire second half. Selina is a self-thought scandal of a woman, except her scandal is secret and also pretty hardcore. Peter Kent has recently learned that he has two much younger siblings that his father sired after he abandoned Peter, and now that the father is dead, Peter wants to become their official guardian. But Peter is a mess of a sweetheart who has muddled up enough scandal that the higher-ups in the legal system might deny him that chance. Selina embarks on a task to get him married to a respectable lady to make him look like a sympathetic and good father figure. But lol, Selina realizes she's kinda got the hots for him. Oops!

The characters in this book are so much fun and so well fleshed out. At first I was like, these are a lot of names to remember, but by like, halfway through, I wanted a full book dedicated to each character. To put that much goodness into just 300 pages is impressive. I can't wait for more from Vasti!

Thanks to Netgalley and Forver Publishing for the e-ARC!

The book is a story of marriage of convenience, found family and friends to lovers, set in Victorian England.
A newly minted Duke needs to appear reputable to win custody of his much younger half-sibling. It is and uphill battle since he grew up in America, which is, of course, frowned upon.
A good friend of his, a Duke's daughter tries to help him by setting him up with suitable women to make him appear more settled down and respectable. The attraction they both feel makes it difficult, though. And while the young lady cares for him as well, she has a secret she worries might ruin his hard-earned reputation if it were to come out.
The story includes scheming, blind dates, personal values that not always conform with the standards of the time and figuring out of personal feelings and rational decisions that need to be made for the good of the children.
The narration is well done. The American accent a little funny at times.
The story is interesting and the conflict feels reasonable in the setting.

Very cute. I really liked Selina, she was a fantastic character. And the other women set up in the book make me excited for future installments! Peter was a little all over the place, I think. He had his tragic backstory that impacted his reactions to only a few very specific situations. And we were told a lot about his charisma and charm, but didn’t really see that so much in his interactions. His thoughts leaned more towards self-consciousness in being thrust into this Dukedom, but there are 2 years of his society introduction that we, the reader, miss out on.
I do love a finale that’s over the top, and this certainly delivered.
I’m sad to be caught up on all of Alexandra Vasti’s books, she was my author of the summer!
