Found this book in a box while cleaning out a storage closet. Read it on a whim and found it enjoyable but forgettable.

This was a good story. I like her books. I always have a few laughs listening to the novels. I liked the story and it was always moving.

Interesting premise, standard Kinsey Milhone sass

I love the bits we learn about Kinsey’s family. It is completely missing from the abridged version, which is SO MUCH SHORTER

Her struggle with identity when she finds out she does have family is so melancholy.

The abridged version I listen to originally was only maybe three hours long. This version is nine hours long and there was so much missing from the abridged version. It feels like an entirely different book.

This is book J in the Kinsey Millhone alphabet series. Yes, it's a re-read but I'd forgotten where I left off, so I went back to I and started over from there. I did remember slightly a bit of this book, but only the backstory part. Like I, i was distracted by the old methods, driving around to find phones instead of calling people on their cells, not looking things up online. A lot of waste. But it just serves to remind me how life was back then, which I don't remember too well anymore lol. There's something i kind of don't like about Kinsey anymore, when i used to like her a lot. I dunno. The mystery part itself was just ok. I'm still going to continue on with this series, because it's not bad, and i'd really like to make it to Z.

All of Grafton's books are starting to blend together. This one didn't do much for me, and I will most likely forget most of the plot by tomorrow. The lull in the middle was rough to get through where she was grasping at straws trying to move forward in the case. I didn't like the cliffhanger at the end- but maybe she'll come back to it in a later novel? Or that person may come back? It seems to me that Kinsey's character was completely unnecessary in the story. Nothing that she did changed the outcome, and the outcome rendered her useless to begin with. This was better than H, but not as good as some of her previous works, B and E being my favorites to date. Was it smart for Grafton to introduce Kinsey's extended family? The jury's still out on that.

One of the better entries in this likeable detective series. The ending is... well, not "subtle" exactly, but interesting.
