I liked it better than the last two of the series, but not as much as The Giver.

Ok Lois redeemed the series with book 4 imo. I thoroughly enjoyed the way it all wrapped up in the end. The way she shaped this world from book 1 to book 4 was so incredibly interesting. Poor Claire

Just soooo slow. Could have been a much more compelling story in half the page count. Was happy to see story of Jonas and Gabriel wrapped up, though.

holy shit this book was like 80 stories in one it was a mental workout trying to place what was happening in the book within the timeline of the overall series LOL but such a satisfying conclusion. my girl lois weaves the story together in a beautiful way and made me cry many a time

"The Giver" had a huge impact on me as a child, and it has been very cool to see the quartet develop. Reading this last book felt a little sad because it was the last one, but I enjoyed it.

I really appreciate the degree to which a Lois Lowry book doesn't feel like a book written for an age group. You know how some YA novels feel really, really, YA-ish? Or a middle-grade novel feels so safe and specific to the age it was designed for? Lois Lowry doesn't do that. She just tells a good story...and it is age-appropriate, but without ever calling attention to itself or feeling censored or untrue.

This was a satisfying ending, though there were things I wish we learned more about - such as the community, how it came to be and what happens to it and so on. But I did like revisiting previous characters and gaining some closure for their arcs.

SON was probably one of the darkest in the quarter but it was amazing to read. Definitely my favorite. I don't know that I could put Ito words now how much I loved SON. Lowry does remarkable work with this series and this is a fantastic finish.

I remember my sixth grade teacher reading us The Giver. I bought it that year and have read it at least 20 times since. I always loved the story, and gleaned new things from it each time.

I was disappointed with the two follow up books, but needed to read Son. It filled some voids, but I wish I could have had the first half of the story, from Claire’s perspective, in with The Giver. I feel like The Giver left so much up to interpretation, so many ways to be read, but the three books that followed just laid out a path that was much too literal.

Pretty good ending. a little more sci-fi than I would like, but glad I got closure!
