Book is divided into thirds:
1st third - loved!
2nd third - kinda got bogged down, I thought.
3rd third - not enough space to do it justice. I liked what was happening, just felt too rushed.

Growing up, I read The Giver a time or two and loved it. I’m so glad I’ve finally gotten to finish the series. It’s so uniquely written and I love how all the storylines intertwine and interact with each other
Full disclosure: I abandoned this book after about 150 pages. Boring, boring, boring. I LOVED the first three books in this "quartet", but I did not really care what happened to Claire. I should have; the plot line was compelling. But the action was anything but riveting.
I also felt the writing was more like 5th-6th grade level, while some of the subject matter was middle to high school level, which left me with a dissonance. And where to put it in a library collection? I am still mulling that over.
I think Lowry should have just stopped at Messenger and let it go at that. It was a good trilogy, even though she does not consider it to be one.

I liked learning about another characters journey in the community especially since they were a birth mother. Claire’s fight to find her son is beautiful.
Gabe’s journey to kill the trade master is funny. It reminds me of how the children kill It in Steven Kings book.

This book is the much needed resolution to the giver series. Good book. I miss Mattie. I think Claire was bogus for not telling Gabe who she was right away but it all worked out.
Amazing conclusion to the Giver, Messenger, and Gathering Blue. There's three parts to the story, and each part is a conclusion for a book. I was simply astonished how Lois Lowry got all the characters to connect, and actually made another whole new story
A must-read to those who've read the three books in the Giver Quartet :)
