I liked the beginning part of the book when Claire was still in the OG Giver village. I liked seeing ither parts of that society. After that I really didn't care much for the book. So many parts were so drawn out and the book could have definitely been shorter.
A little duller than the first three books of the series. I liked the first part, "Before," and found "Between," the second part hard to get through. There were too many details of Claire's training for the climb and of the climb itself. The last part, "Beyond," was my favorite and seemed like a kind of allegory to me. If you liked the first three of the series, do yourself a favor, and plow through the first 2 parts in order to get the the third most beautiful conclusion of Son and of the entire series.
This book wraps all the previous books together. Finally I learned what happened to the characters from The Giver.

I didn't like this book as much as the other ones of the series. It wasn't awful, but I didn't enjoy reading it, I went on just to know how the story would end, but I didn't even care about the characters anymore at some point. I feel like this story could have been developed better. The biggest part of the story is about Claire training to leave the village, while other parts of the story were just kind of left behind or neglected. I give this book three stars only because the idea of describing Gabe's past and Claire's story is nice and really interesting. I just think it could have been done better.
