The series goes in a different and darker direction from the previous books. Check the content warnings because there's a lot of new territory here.
I really like Poppy as a lead. She's very down to earth, having worked in London for years and not had the wealth of Kate or Caro to make things easier. She's accepted by the nobility at the house party unrealistically easily, but I'm glad of it. The book title calls Poppy a spinster but I don't think we ever get her age. I don't think it's an accurate title.
Langham is pretty much another Val.
Poppy's sister being accused of murdering her husband is just the tip of the iceberg. This town has so much nonsense going on, I love it but I was repeatedly surprised just how far it went. Again, check content warnings if you're not sure.

I really liked, this one for the plot and the relationship however I didn’t like the miscommunication at times between the main couple being a point of conflict. But the mystery in this one was really interesting. And as usual, her books are so engaging for me. I can’t put these books down! They capture my attention and for that I really like them!

This one had all the catnip *yum* Collins got all the right pieces together for this one. Both lead characters had depth and their own distinct personalities. Although the book equation was similar -> a mystery, bad first impressions, sleuthing, then mutual pining -> these two made me feel a connection with them both. I adored seeing them together and with their friends. There were also a lot of laughs and extra swooning moments when the Duke refused to let anyone bully Poppy.
Bottom line just know that this book is worth it.

A good period piece with a murder mystery twist.
As usual with this series and this author, fun read. Great characters with excellent chemistry. Also, a wild story. Our murder mystery appears to be the result of an unhappy marriage but it does not end there. Honestly, once the book got going, I could not put it down.
