in typical YA fantasy fashion everything is resolved quickly and coincidentally which was disappointing. crier and ayla have great chemistry and I actually really liked crier's character but the plot was ?? and the reveal about the queen was way too late considering it was potentially a predatory relationship btwn her and

since she was continuously referred to as "a couple of years older than ayla".

not a bad duology just disappointing as I was super excited for a rare sapphic fantasy romance

this duology was a very cozy read despite the tension involved. even through hell and back, there was a softness between ayla and crier that was so beautiful to witness. and the friendships made along the way that shaped crier were so nice to see, really got to explore more of her feelings in this book.

fascinating plot line, and you’re constantly rooting for the girls!!

it did make me laugh that yora’s heart was in the palace the whole time though hahaha
