DNF'd at 40 pages. Too many characters to keep up with (felt like at least 10 were introduced, some just by name) and the constantly switching POV was too much for me.

Captivating novel - building out the story and releasing details in such a way it keeps you gripped.

Kemp really makes the characters come to life, making it feel like yoy know them personally.

The oppressing and mysterious atmossphere of that summer in Sicily really seeps through the pages. 

Interesting to view that summer and its aftermath through the eyes of a child and of an adult - characters that are both on the fringes.
