Much easier reading than Ham on Rye. I didn’t inhabit this book as much as the last but it was a much smoother ride.

Loved the prose, humour, and social criticism; hated the objectification of women.

Bukowski full of himself but fair enough that that’s the vibe he’s going for
Fun to blitz through in 48 hours and never really think of again
You have to hate the main character (I’m convinced you’re meant to)
I enjoyed it but was troubled by the totally unnecessary sexual assault. Will try more Bukowski but just hope there’s less unforgivable crimes
