This book got off to a fine start, but quickly lost me in the ways it flattened its characters and mined the realities of police brutality for a thin urban fantasy plot while simultaneously made a complicit, religious bigot cop the ongoing love interest.

I liked this book. I didn't know what to expect which was a plus. I did think it felt a little disorganized but I understood the separate events.
