YA romance is not a genre I tend to pick up and I don’t even remember how this one got on my radar. But I’m glad it did because it was a delightful read. It had all the vibes of great teen romcoms like 10 Things I Hate About You or Clueless, and the chemistry between the main couple was spot on. Really enjoyed this.

I love a good HEA!

This was an adorable teen romance that hit all the right places. Moments where I was giggling with excitement and others where I wanted to grab Lizzy and Wes’ shoulders and shake some sense into them!

The movies quoted and referenced throughout the book had me re-watching some of my favourite romcoms of the 90s.

This was such a sweet coming of age last months of high school read!

The story leaned into the movie tropes and cliches and balancing delving into topics of grief, friendship, and growing up.

I really loved the character Wes and the banter between Wes and Libby.

I took off points because the miscommunication at the end was just infuriating because I wanted the main couple to be together already.

Very enjoyable read and I look forward to reading more Lynn Painter.

P.S. I’m upped my rating from 4.5 to 4.75 because Lynn Painter’s website has bonus chapters and I love when authors give additional content. I loved these characters and I am so happy I get to read more of their story.

Ok, it was cute but Wes pissed me off
thinking Liz was still pinning after Michael. Also gave me the ick when he was smoking cigars with Liz, like gave her a potential cancer just for fun ffs. Y'ALL ARE 16/17

The chemistry was there, the kiss was cute and the book made tear up with the 3rd act conflict.
I will read The Do-Over but I hope Lynn did not pull the same shit again

Very cute read. The main character was kind of a brat, but it was still a lot of fun. Now I wanna go rewatch every rom-com she mentioned in the book lol

I pleasantly enjoyed this book. I’m a sucker for quotes so starting each chapter w/ a romantic quote from famous rom coms, I adored it!

I loved how Lynn Painter wrote Wes’ character and how we got to know him as Libby got to know.

The end to me was awfully lackluster, I was thinking up several ways for it to end better than it did on the way there, but it wasn’t awful and was still cute. Just wanted something bigger there personally.

“ I fell in love with teasing you in the second grade, when I first discovered that I could turn your cheeks pink with just a word. Then I fell in love with you. “

“You look best when you’re you.”

“Society—wrongly— expects a pretty girl to eat a salad and pick at her food, but you wolf down a burger like a person who’s been starved for weeks. And probably raise by wolves.”

If you love boy next door, enemies to lovers, or fake dating tropes, you’ll probably pleasantly enjoy this book also.
