Quite honestly I read this pre-pandemic in the US so I don’t remember all the details right now but I remember I flew through this! It’s set between two timelines: the current one where an entertainment writer is trying to escape her dead end job, and the future where a woman lives in a California town and is essentially a government-appointed celebrity with 12 million followers. The timelines converge in a pretty cool way. I was really intrigued by The Spill mentioned in the book, an event that led to the destruction of technology as we know it, and I wanted to know more about that. Beyond that I flew through this book and I thought it was an engrossing story.
Many thank to the publisher for the advanced copy. Now how about an honest review!
Good writing and interesting concept but not my cup of tea.

I loved this book!!! It made me super scared about how my private thoughts could be “spilled” all over the real world. They friendship between the two major women was so sad sad and Floss really irritated me, which I believe was the point! So glad I was able to use this for the social media prompt for Popsugar.

I was worried I wasn't going to get this but the second half really won me over.
This book was so amazing with the connection of two stories during during radically different time periods. When I first started the book, I admit, I was ready to give up after a couple of chapters. But I persevered and then couldn’t put it down. It is very much a cautionary tale of social media and how nothing ever truly goes away once it is out in cyberspace.

Very creative and builds nicely to the ending. Does all the satire work? Not for me, but I still liked the story and the characters, as shallow as some of them are. Do I think we're moving in the direction of some kind of social media disaster? Not really, but then again, I only have something like 27 Facebook friends, and at any one time all but a few are on "snooze". Plus I have an ad blocker that pretty much puts me in another world than Facebook users who see ads.
