This books is kind of all over the place plot-wise, which is not to say it's not a good read. I found myself annoyed with all the reveals about 3/4 through, but by the time I;d finished the book I really loved it.

Almost 4 stars.

This is a timely “Black Mirror” book (poignant/satirical) that might haunt you a little but after (or at the very least reduce your screen time/social media use—it made me glad I broke up with my phone and left social media/ignore Hollywood gossip/stopped following celebrities and “influencers” and also retired from being a smaller one!)

I adore books with two timelines and think that style worked great here. Overall, I was really loving this until the end. It didn’t seem to match the book—as if the editor or author got bored... the commentary about how we are currently living both before and in this pandemic is

This book was so terrible to listen to... I don’t know if it was the person reading it or the subject matter in general. The story was basically the same type of overused distopian crap, but with social media. I just didn’t find any of it interesting. I tried so hard to just power through, but after being bored for half of it, I finally gave up.

3.5 Engrossing and a bit scary, but ultimately I felt disappointed by the ending.

2.5⭐️ I didn’t love this book but I will admit that it made me think about social media and how our lives have become so public. Definitely reinforced my decision to delete my Facebook account and only periodically check my Instagram account.

i really enjoyed this book and it definitely gave me some things to think about. it immediately reminded me of Shteyngart's "Super Sad True Love Story", but it's a story all of its own.

Some parts seem unrealistic - people are too scared to share anything online but fine with getting a device implanted in their body that communicates directly with their brain? Also, the redemption arc at the end was way too easy - boundaries with toxic people are a good thing. That said, it was a quick, fun read and had some interesting ideas to consider.
