While this book was enjoyable, sweet, and at times funny, it wasn’t entertaining enough for me. I felt like I was just reading about a normal couple and the start of their relationship. It may have been an interesting or unconventional start, but it really wasn’t that eventful. I wasn’t dying for the main characters to get together, I wasn’t thrilled or squealing when they finally did (as you should), and I didn’t have a hard time closing this book and never looking back. It wasn’t bad, just not my cup of tea.

The Flat Share is a wonderfully fun read with a super original concept!

It’s about Tiffy who desperately needs to get out of the manipulative relationship she has with her ex. But when she realises she can’t afford a place on her own she starts thinking outside of the box… and that’s when she finds herself responding to an ad for a part time flatmate.

The arrangement is pretty unique with Tiffy getting the flat overnight and at weekends and Leon getting it during the day inbetween his night shifts at the hospital.

Leon’s girlfriend is pretty uncomfortable with the arrangement and so takes control of all communications with Tiffy. But it’s only a one bed flat so Leon and Tiffy find themselves technically sharing a bed (although never at the same time!) and to try and ease the awkwardness they start leaving each other notes around the flat.

They form a firm friendship via post it notes despite not even knowing what the other look like.

And as usual you won’t get any spoilers here so the question is when their paths do eventually cross, will they live up to each other’s expectations or be disappointed?

I’ve loved all of Beth O’Leary’s books that I’ve read so far and this one was also fab! Would def recommend. And I’ll also be checking out the TV series they made based on this book!
