Part memoir, part short story. I think Smith’s style of writing really shines when she’s observing reality, ruminating over mundane pleasures and explorations of place. The juxtaposition of Smith telling us how she receives inspiration paired with the story she was inspired to write (even including photos of her notes scribbled on a train) is really what this book is about.
