Really nice art. Storyline not amazing but personally I'm just getting to meet most of these characters so that's OK.

The Starjammers / Shi'ar missions didn't so it for me,  it I would've taken 6 issues of the Nebraska team.

I'm still new to the New Mutants, but I can definitely tell that Hickman loves them. Not just Cannonball and Sunspot, but the whole lot of them. Hickman knows how to write X-Men cosmic. Good amount of levity.

Review for entire run (#1-33):

Starts off great if a bit disjointed with Jonathan Hickman and Ed Brisson, but turns into something entirely special under Vita Ayala. Rod Reiss somehow keeps on improving in his art and is sorely missed when he isn't there, establishing himself as one of the greatest and most definitive New Mutants artist.

The art work and colours are beautiful, its a bit like a textured pencil went other it rather than crisp digital.

The alternating issues/stories/authors is super confusing when it comes to printing the trades, huh? There are 3 distinct “New Mutants Vol. 1” from the Krakoa Era and they all have the same yellow design. Took me forever to figure out which ones to read.

The story is fine though. It’s a comedy book generally, with fourth wall breaks, and that’s not really my thing, and it’s a space story, which I also don’t care for in my X-books. So the fact that it got three stars from me means it’s probably pretty good.

really fun and strong sense of identity, actually enjoyed its intercutting with the run on Earth once I got my head around it
