The author focuses only on a "homestead" lifestyle on how you can save money by having your own bees and making your own bread etc. Which is quite unrealistic for the average person who will only read this book because they want to reduce some of their expenses in their busy city life.

This is probably why the author mentions that he doesn't make much money etc. If you spend 90% of your time repairing windows and chasing chickens, well... No time for an actual money making job.

Overall, the book has very useful information (and cooking recipes) but only for those who want ti live in a farm.

The thing that puts me off completely though is that the author is very judgemental about anyone with a different lifestyle.

The first two chapters of this book were exceptional; low cost eating and beating supermarkets at their own game made some really informative reading which I praise the author for. Judging alone on the first few chapters would have easily made this a five star read, however I felt the chapters in the middle of the book were too lengthy and unnecessary. I gained a lot of insight and inspiration overall, and hope to see more from the author specifically relating to environmental issues, and living well for less.
