Harry Potter and the Cursed Child - Parts One and Two by J.K. Rowling

I feel sad and disappointed that I'm giving a Harry Potter book only 2 stars, but then I guess it's not technically part of the series. So that makes me feel a little bit better.

SOME SPOILERS BELOW

My reasons for not liking this as much are:
- Harry's treatment of his son and saying he never had a father so he never knew how to be or not to be. What about Sirius, Dumbledore and all the other male characters who gave him advice and loved him!?
Also, how he treated Professor McGonagall. I would never have thought she'd let anyone treat her like that.
- The start was slow and I almost decided to not continue reading.
- The play format. I know that's what this book is, but it's one of the reasons I couldn't get into it. I can't imagine how the set designers are going to manage so many scenes. If they bring the play to Australia, I'd love to see how they do it.
- The idea that Voldemort got it on with Bellatrix seems unlikely and disgusting to think about.

The things I liked about it:
- Draco and Scorpius. Some people may be annoyed that Draco has become the 'good' guy but I bought it and liked his story the best.
- The nostalgic feeling. Reading about favourite characters again, and seeing the Triwizard tournament was really cool.
- All the jokes! I know people have said Ron is only in it as comic relief, but that didn't bother me, I thought it was (in the words of Ron) brilliant.

I'm glad I did continue because it brought back memories and had some good moments with beloved characters, but it was just an okay read in my opinion. At least it didn't take long to read.

This was amazing beyond words! The most anticipated book of the year for me - and it was well worth the wait! It went far beyond my expectations into the realm of complete awe! A masterpiece if there ever was one!

The story definitely keep you on your toes and keeps you second guessing everything. Full of suspense! It kept my on the edge of my seat from start to finish. I LOVED EVERY SECOND OF IT!

I enjoyed this for the nostalgia and the revisit to some of my favorite characters ever. However, I didn't really like some of the plot points and felt they cheapened some parts of the original 7 books. I would still love to see this performed!!

Good, but it had a different feeling than the books as it's written in play-form. Still worth it, though.

It doesn't really pick up until page 187 out of 309. I wanted to love it. I'll still go see it...
