read for class. very witty. reminded me of tár a bit—downfall of a very prideful person. secretly a story about ghosts and hauntings of the past.

An odd little story of greed & obsession.
Slightly redundant for me, but still understandable to a certain point.

I really enjoy the clever way Pushkin makes references to other literary works to strengthen his message and give them more depth.

Such as...

‘Another’s bread is bitter to the taste,’ says Dante, ‘and his staircase hard to climb’;

Makes you wonder what would you do if you were in this man's shoes?
