Very interesting case, Poirot never fails to impress. I love the relationship dynamic in Murder at the Links. Another great leisurely read. The last four chapters had me at the edge of me seat!

Despite google saying Agatha Christie was 36 when she wrote this book, she was not. One can't be born in 1890, have a book published in 1923, and be 36 when one wrote it. At the most she was 33. At the time she was unhappily married to Archibald Christie.
Went on a bit long. Complicated with characters and twists for the sake of twists. Must admit Hastings’ romance made me feel somewhat nauseous. Who the heck falls in love after meeting over a couple of times?
Oh…wait…I did…and have been married for 33 years now…so I guess it happens. But it’s unbelievable in fiction. =D
People passed out left, right, and centre. What was with people dropping at the..errr…drop of a hat? What the heck is brain fever anyway? And what the heck is with someone getting a bonk on the head, and the Dr is all “Oh yeah, she’s going to be unconscious for a week” and everyone’s cool with that and doesn’t freak out? A WEEK? Bizarre.
Poirot climbs trees like a cat? Seriously? Obviously Christie hadn’t fully developed his character yet.
Anyway, the book’s fine. I mean, not my favourite. Way too complicated, over-full, not a really tight story. But it’s ok. I think her life was probably pretty unhappy when she wrote it, and she's clearly still honing her craft. A solid 3 stars.

I’m at a loss for words. It’s been a while since I’ve read an Agatha Christie book, and I truly forgot how EVERY SINGLE DETAIL is important and will somehow be connected to the crime. I do however plan to start reading all of the Hercule Poirot series. This was a tad convoluted with characters having unknown twin siblings, secret identities etc but as always it was a fun, wild ride.

I feel like 4 stars is okay because the ending was a fantastic twist but I felt like the reiteration of every clue for chapters and chapters on end kind of dragged, every woman has at least one fainting spell (I know it’s the 20’s but come tf on), and Hastings’ love interest at the end was strange. You’ve met her twice, she’s shady and has lied every time she speaks, and this is l-o-v-e? Honestly want to give it 3 stars, but, again, the ending was a head twister.

This was an interesting story but Hastings really proved himself to be a huge boob. I cannot believe he didn't get run out of the place. It wasn't until near the end that I was sure who the murderer was. Does Poirot really keep him around after this story? I am sure he is in the whole series but why I don't know. I also found it really irritating that they decided the murderer had to be a man because a woman couldn't have dug the shallow grave.
