This book is just as enraging, captivating and traumatic as the first one. This story centers around Honey, the adopted daughter of the original Book Woman. Her parents have been sent to prison for their unlawful marriage (mixed “color” marriage. Honey is on her own after her guardian dies. She takes over her mama’s book route, finds a few friends and survives on her own over the objections of local social services. There is a huge focus on the fight for decency/equality that women in Appalachia fought. Fascinating historical account for sure.
