3.5 rounded up. A slow-building, atmospheric historical horror; this one requires patience. If only we could stop Ada's unraveling!

The book was enough to keep me glued to it the past few days I read it. Something about wanting to know what happens next to Ada as she encounters these horrors around her had me trapped. It was a very slowburn (in romance and horror), that suddenly just hit you. In a good way?
I think the only downsides are I wish there was more about what happened after. I know it's a journal type of story, but the ending left me curious for more. I would have liked it a bit more if there were more horror-spooky things happening to Ada.
I have no idea if Agatha deserved to die though. Also, what happened to Norah and the girl whose name I forgot already? All this buildup and connections with Norah - just for Ada to leave her for a god man monster creature? Then IDK almost icky with the vibes I get from Grey Dog and M child.
I think a part of Ada was jealous of a child. She was very intimidated by her ever since their first meeting, and hated that. Even after she found out about M's home life. Like damn...okay...
Overall, I did enjoy reading this book and would recommend it to others who like this genre.
