it took me…a lot to get into this. seriously, 200 pages of buildup. but when it took off, it took off! very tense, very spooky. then near the end it seemed to trip on itself. half tumblr-prose, half 70s goddess movement on ayahuasca. a bit disappointing overall

2.5⭐️ I wanted to like this. I really did. seeing as two of my top five books of all time are horror books about grief, this had all the making of a five star. however this book was not strong in any department and I was struggling a bit to finish it. this book was almost so pointless that I’m confused. I felt like 100 pages were torn out of my copy or something because nothing was fully formed. at least a fye cover :/ the half star is for the representation and using my favorite saying that nobody ever says aka worse for wear

I really enjoyed it, wasn't too spooky or scary just enough to be super intriguing! Also shoutout gay yearning!

I get it, it's a metaphor, you don't have to use the word queer every 20 pages
