This book is SO close to being a 5 star read for me. It challenged me on all the ways I view main characters of stories and I couldn’t put this down. I finished it within 36 hours. Berry just GETS the human psyche, and her way of writing about terror, pain, and sadness is captivating.

As far as thrillers/crime mysteries go, this was great. Fast paced and easy to follow, even going back and forth in timeline with 2 narrators. The writing wasn’t anything special.
Though I legit wanted to punch the mother in the face. Her big decision was so ridiculous and unbelievable and no way would any law enforcement agency ever have allowed it.
