My first and last Lucinda berry book. I hated the writing style - it was so choppy and did not flow. The whole book was a series of short, halting sentences thrown together. I finished this in a day because I wanted to get through it and be done. The plot wasn’t that gripping either - I feel like a lot of big points were just glazed over and it felt rushed and lazy.

This book explores trauma in two very different ways which I found to be well written.
Each character is sympathetic in their own way (the girls), but I found myself having a hard time sympathizing with Ella’s mom, because she truly refused to listen to her daughter until the end of the book.
The book does not shy away from graphic content, and there was several times where I had to stop reading because it was so intense.
