Really, murdercunt and fuckwits. I’m all for dystopias, but idk how we got here and this book is not interesting enough to drag myself through it to find out.

The best postapocalyptic novel maybe ever?
update 2022: thinking about the postapocalypse but also a postapocalypse & what that looks like on a community or individual level.

As per usual, Valente crafts a beautifully complicated and yet simple world. The characters are vibrant, the plot is exciting, and the prose is lovely. I will say it's a little less flowery than some of her other work, but that doesn't mean it's bad-- just that it's different.
