The book was great. I loved how it focused on Ferns battle with anxiety. The flow of the slow burn was great and couldnt have been done better

This story grabs you. This was my first monster romance. I honestly loved it. There’s a lot of mystery and fear at the beginning. The monster warps from a friend to a lover. Monsters aren’t always what they seem….or are they? Cairo is the sweetest monster. I loved the doggo and am thrilled that Moro made it.

Arc review: I really enjoyed this and am so grateful to start reading this one early! I will say personally took a little for me to get into, little slow but once things picked up they did. I found moments relatable (of course not the monster parts) but Fern and her anxiety and being over stimulated at times.

“You’re fine; your brain is just being a dick. You’re used to this.” At least out here, alone in the parking lot, there’s no one around to notice my one-sided conversation.”

Absolutely loved Moro, a super protective floof who also enjoys Cairos company. I’ll always trust the dog’s instincts.

Starve by AJ Merlin — 4 Stars
An asylum soaked in murder, mayhem, and mystery, with creepy voices that twist into someone you trust. “They’re coming, they’re starving” keeps the tension razor sharp. "Never in my life could I have imagined being a monster’s toy like this" — fear and helplessness hit hard, though the overemphasis on him being a monster can drag. Cairo, the gentle giant, slowly steps out of the shadows, while Fern turns into a total kick-ass girlfriend. Scary, spicy, and with a stellar ending that ties it all together, this one left me STARVED.

Bro Aj Merlin truly never fails okay trooly.

Anyway, I liked it! It was a bit slow, I was kinda bored for a bit but I was like 🥹🥹 nah imma stay with this, like yes there needs to be set up no matter what.

That being said…

I wanted to punch Fern so much. Girl. Sit down. Stay down. Stay at the house, stay in the room, stay in the car, stay in the bus, stay in the tree, stay in the train (I’m just doing green eggs and ham at this point) but oh my god girl PLEASE FERN PLEASE 😭😭😭😭 JUST. STAY.

Anyway yeah no Cairo is super cute and Tyler is the funniest name ever because how are you gonna have a super hot name like Cairo and then just named some TYLER.

Do you know how many times I wanted to say “AS IF YOU COULD OUTRUN ME”

I loved it!! Another hit from one of my favorites 🥹🥹🥹
