Another great installment in the Outlander series! A lot happens in this one - we finally find out how Jamie survived Culloden and what his life was like afterwards; the reunion of Claire and Jamie; the search for Young Ian, etc, etc. I really enjoy Claire and Jamie's reunion and I like that there was some drama in it - it only makes sense after twenty years apart! I do find the section on the ship to drag a little bit...it seemed a little as if Gabaldon just kept throwing wrenches into Claire and Jamie finally being back together. A lot of threads get tied up very conveniently in the last 100 pages or so, particularly who betrayed Jamie (which I always find a little shocking) and who the murderer in Scotland was. I look forward to rereading the next in the series, as I don't remember much about what happens to them once they have settled in America!

Out of the three books I've read so far in the series, this one is my favorite for the drama alone. Infidelity, kidnapping, extramarital children, blackmail, multiple wives, multiple murders (there is literally a serial killer in this). Like this one was so fun! No war or battles just pure mess. I will say the ending was a little lackluster and all of the really great build up over these 800 pages gets solved in a few pages that isn't really that satisfying.
Seeing Claire and Jamie's lives over the 20 years apart really shows how much better they are together than apart. They just fit.

At this point I guess I’m all in for the duration. I tried to take a break between books 2 & 3 to read something else, but … yeah, nope.
This series will be the longest guilty pleasure I’ve ever consumed and I have zero regrets. I upped my stars to 5 because, yeah, not the finest literature in the land, but when I’m this hooked? I think the books earned it haha.
