The start of the book is shocking, especially since I have read Emily Giffin before. I was excited to see where she took the novel, but frankly I don’t think she could handle such intense topics. It all fell flat - seemed predictable and unrealistic at the same time. It was sometimes cringey to read. I was the most invested in Lainey’s story so I wanted to finish things out but I could have put it in the DNF pile.

I really enjoyed it at the beginning. Some of the plot choices I wasn’t a fan of. The ending felt rushed and too neatly wrapped up.

SO different than Emily Giffin's normal books so I was thrown. The beginning hits you hard, and by the end there was no explanation or resolution of why. I understand that there doesn't need to be, however I think that might have pulled the entire thing more together. I also wasn't a fan of any of the main characters or how their lives played out. I felt as though it was very lack luster. I love reading Emily Giffin, so I hope this is not her new style of writing at all.
