This was a beautiful book about friendship and coming to terms with grief. I loved how the trio was there to support each other and the themes of found family were well executed. However, I felt that both romance subplots felt rushed and poorly executed, and Hannah’s character arch didn’t make much sense to me. (3.5/5)
medium-paced

Was not expecting this book to be as heavy as it was. It was a good story of grief, love and friendship but was just expecting a lighter theme.

I typically like Emily Giffin books, they're very comfortable and familiar, but this one just didn't really hit the mark. It felt younger than the characters were, and a little disjointed and over-saccharine. I love a lot of the themes / tropes (friends with a pact; grief; long-lost family; summer) but did not super love the execution. I also felt the difficult topics - addition; suicide - were handled with too much kid gloves and landed a bit After School Special-y. Not my fav from here, ultimately forgettable.

The dialogue seems forced and stilted. The characters' journeys are forced, too. I just didn't like the chemistry between the love interests. I didn't like the flow. I usually like Emily Giffin books, but this is a miss for me.
