A heartwarming book about friendship and being there for one another through life. Covers such things as suicide and alcoholism. I loved the traveling that the three best friends did together. A perfect summer read! Emily Giffin does it again!

This rating may be a little harsh but I was so excited for this book. The setting in Italy is wonderful and I was captivated in the first couple chapters. The multiPOV was good in parts but I think Tyson's POV was disappointing. I wish the author stuck to the plans set by the characters or had framing of some kind because it feels like the plot is always pivoting. Also everything was so immediately resolved in a way that was repetitive and annoying.

Emily Giffin has always been a go to author for me especially when I was in my 20s. I haven't kept up with her recent works but when a friend suggested a buddy read of The Summer Pact, I couldn't resist.
This book got into the heavy stuff right off the bat. I definitely felt sad reading the beginning of the book. It just felt like it was heading in a really dark place. As the characters picked up and the storyline went on, it got lighter and picked a really nice route to take with very good friends.
Four completely different personalities meet at college and become fast friends. When a tragedy befalls one of them, they make a pact that no matter what is going on in their lives, they promise to drop everything and be there for each other. A few years later, something does happen to one of the friends and the pact is initiated. As each person trys to come to terms with their own struggles, they come together and step up to be what the other person needs. With a little travel, a few fights, a lot of patience and tons of love for each other, these friends find their ways back to themselves through each other. Nothing is stronger than friendship.
