It was just meh. The author just tried to put so much into one book to keep it under 400 pages. Honestly, I understand the point of the books is over coming loss and have the three main characters grow as they take time with reflect on what the loss meant to them in a larger capacity but just the rush job at the end kills it for me to just wrap every thing up with a neat little bow at the end.

I have enjoyed Giffin’s novels in the past, but I felt like this one fell short. The primary reason is simply that this is a story about it a friendship between three people, and not only are all three of them underdeveloped as characters (2 of the three are dull and the 3rd is immature and annoying), the story doesn’t actually show any reason that the three of them are friends. They keep declaring their loyalty to each other, but they don’t seem to have anything in common. The romantic relationships are trite and predictable, and the major crisis is over dramatic. Not so bad that I couldn’t finish it, but definitely not recommended.

Beautiful story of friends staying connected after one of them passes and how you can find yourself even through deep friendship.
I started this one while home on my first week of maternity leave, and it was an absolute slog to finish. I didn’t find a single character to be likable or even interesting, the premise was loose at best, and like other reviewers have pointed out, the side characters read as cartoonishly villainous, not like real people at all. I also can’t recommend listening to the audiobook in particular, as hearing the narrators’ intonations made the dialogue sound even more forced. Gave it 2 stars because it was pleasantly distracting at times, but would definitely not read again.
