I liked the first part of the book, but it went sharply downhill about 2/3 of the way through with the major plot point. The crew was just real dumb, and the ending was quite predictable. I would also not be sad if I never read the word "unnatural" again. If you know, you know.

Meh, not my thing! Conventional, boring, melodramatic.

This book is amazing I don't know why, but this mystery and story intrigue you from the beginning! AMAZING!!!!

Let me tell you right now: Don't read this book. In short, I have no idea why it got a newberry medal. I had to read this for a school assignment and nobody in the class liked it.

Perhaps if I hadn't read this in school, where we could only read 20 pages a day, I would have liked it better. It seemed to drag on, but that is (probably) only because of how long it took to read it. I don't read historical fiction very often, but when I do I am always surprised by how much I liked the book. The True Confessions of Charlotte Doyle was an interesting read, and definitely unique. I didn't love it, but it was a bit better than your average book.
