I’m still trying to grasp my feelings for this novel. The mystery itself was everything you’d expect of Agatha Christie—atmospheric, creepy English villages, and shrewd plotting. The villain is never who you expect, and yet never far-fetched. The writing is delicate and simple. The characters are bold, different, and strong, especially of opinion. My struggles with this book however are: the plot didn’t really start until page 100 of a 229 page book...unnecessary. Secondly, the discussion of rape as something women were told to divulge to cops as something to save their character (without ever correcting this idea) was upsetting. I understand characters feeling this way, but ultimately it felt like Christie’s belief—as if she didn’t think rape in a “respectable” neighborhood was remotely plausible and that all young girls were loose. 🙃🙃

An interesting read. Again, not my favorite but Miss Marple rarely is my favorite Christie series. Still a good book and I can't believe I'm almost done with the series as a whole!
