This was a book I’ve had since middle school and I really wish I had finished it back then. Don’t get me wrong, the stories aren’t bad, but they’re extremely rudimentary and predictable. There are some fun twists, but the setups aren’t great and the characters are very two dimensional. I definitely recommend for a middle school audience because they’re still fun, there’s a reason a liked RL Stine in elementary/middle school, but it’s def not geared for older.

The plot and overall tone of this one really felt more like a Goosebumps book than a Fear Street one. Perhaps that was the original intention when the plot was thought up and it just somehow made its way across to Fear Street instead?
It felt like a scary story for young children with a little bit of teen angst thrown in just to get it to hit the target audience which I really wouldn’t have minded if the plot itself hadn’t been so dull. Really, it’s a slow burn and even when it does amp up towards the end it’s more than a little unsatisfying.
It’s not enough to put me off my love for Fear Street but I would advise to give this one a miss.

I think I lost a serious amount of brain cells just now….

All I could think of while reading this was “IS IT OVER YET?”
Don’t get me wrong there were some okay parts, we had one gruesome killing and a fluffy cat appearance but thats about it. At the beginning of the book our main character’s dog runs away, NOT ONCE did she went out to look for him WTF? who does that? You bet your grandmas dentures I would be out all day and night if one of my beloved fur children goes missing. (After this scene it all went downhill)

All of the characters were annoying and unlikeable, granted they were high schoolers but still! They felt flat and one dimensional. Our main character was not only bitchy, rude and bratty but she also kept making one big mistake after another and I am supposed to feel bad for her? HOW?! The love interest was pointless and just plain unnecessary if not even cringy at times. The relationships between her and her friends made me question why didn’t she just find new ones? The big reveal is dumb, it doesn’t tie up with certain events therefore filling out the story with a bunch of plot holes. You get the picture….Everything in this book was just so dumb and predictable.

While there were parts where I was just completely done with some of the characters, overall the book was a good read. It didn't end quite like I thought it would, in the good way, so that was a pleasant surprise!

Tropey. Very predictable. Main character is insufferable.
