This graphic nonfiction book is a journey through grief as told through the lens of the mother who died giving her daughter life advice. While I have some differences with some of the advice, the presentation was fun and made me smile. Day One: make fajitas. The book even includes a handful of recipes. Great illustrations.
This is the kind of book to gift to a girlfriend whose mom just passed. It doesn’t take itself too seriously but also gives you food for thought, like day 400: Replace me. (While no one can replace mom, you need some mother figures, and if you don’t replace the people in your life who die or friendships that fade you’ll ultimately be lonely.)

Death is inevitable and we should plan our dream death beforehand: “Where are you? What are you wearing? Who are you with? Is there music? What happens next? What do you hope happens next?

Nice art and cute collaboration idea, but overall a pretty unrealistic representation of what grief is like and really glosses over the hard parts of the aftermath of losing a parent, and assumes an economically privileged background which I found annoying.
