This is a cute mystery series written by Kathy Hogan Trocheck before she assumed the pen name Mary Kay Andrews which she writes under today. Callahan Garrity is a former Atlanta PD cop who now owns and runs a cleaning service as well as being a private investigator on the side. She has a small, hilarious staff that help her clean houses, and her mother who she lives with also helps with the business. The stories take place in Atlanta and she references real neighborhoods, streets, businesses, people, and landmarks in her books. I don't consider the books in this series to be cozies because of the frequency of bad language and sometimes violence, but they are entertaining stories, similar to Sue Grafton's but with more humor. I have enjoyed both of the books I have read in this series so far.

"I should have known that when they said a cleaning lady found a body that it would have been you." So begins another mystery with Callahan and her team of maids investigating a murder and missing Civil war documents. She definitely knows how to get in trouble but save the day as well. I am also thankful for her friendship to Jocelyn, the sister of the victim who suffers from an eating disorder.

A southern mystery full of engaging characters. It’s an easy read and I loved Edna, we all need an Edna in our lives. Warning: there are lots of delish food descriptions and made me hungry.

I enjoyed this quick little mystery, but not as much as some of Trochek’s (aka Mary Kay Andrews) other books. The end felt a bit rushed. I will probably still read more books in this series, though, when I’m looking for a mystery that won’t keep me up at night.
