it was good, i was totally hooked from the beginning trying to figure it out . but at about 50% it just fell, it was pretty clear what was going on and th last 50% of the book just beat around the bush. every chapter was a new huge surprise that really meant nothing. how was benedict the exception? that didnt make sense. just overall it was alot of bullshit to get to the end which i already knew and i think anyone can figure out pretty quick. it was still good though and i liked it even the ending was good but predictable too.

AMAZING. so many twists and turns until the very end!!!

Like all Coben books, very fun read but not super deep.

Kirsten this is good. Borrow it from me.

Read this during a long day of traveling. Definitely a page turner!

So, I think this is a 3.5 for me....I'm kinda torn. I LOVED the beginning, hell the first half really. I mean I did start getting a wee bit frustrated with the roadblocks that Jake kept hitting, but I was loving the suspense and all that...I think when it started getting to the "whys" of the story and
Spoiler and stuff like Benedict being not who we thought, and the mentor and everything
I just started being like...hmmmm...I don't know, it started to lose me a bit, not for being hard to follow, just, it lost a bit of the intensity that I was really enjoying in the beginning. I did like it though, and it reads pretty quickly, I guess I was hoping it was going to go in a different direction towards the end.

This is my 3rd Coban book and my least favorite so far. I was more annoyed at the main character than anything so I think that's why it bothered me (obviously he had to keep doing what he was doing for the point of the book..) but I dunno, I lost interest about halfway through -- would have given it 2 or 3 but as Coban does, he finished with a bang and I couldn't stop flipping the last 50 pages or so.

Every couple of years when I start looking for a new mystery author, I run across Harlen Coben and think, "Why don't I read more of Coben". I then proceed to read one of his novels and remember why. He is not a very good author.
