Jake Fisher fell in love with a woman named Natalie. Only she married another man. She made Jake promise to not look for her and just forget her. That was six years ago. If it was not for the death notices in the newspaper then Jake may have kept his promise longer. Jake sees his chance to get with Natalie again when he reads that her husband has died. Jake decides to attend the funeral. Funny thing is that the widower is not Natalie. Things quickly spiral out of control. Jake is now on a wild goose chase to find Natalie.
It has been a while since I had read a book by Mr. Coben. Mr. Coben's newest book, Six Years appealed to me so I decided to check it out. Now after reading this book, I will not let the time elapse as long between books. I kept getting pulled into this book moe and more the further along I got. I was just as puzzled as Jake about what happened to Natalie and just who really is she. I can not imagine knowing someone and falling in love with them only to learn that everything you though you knew about them was a lie.
Jake is not really a good lier. However he has a good heart. It is kind of hard to not fall for Jake. Especially with such devotion and love for Natalie. Each person that Jake encountered in this story just seemed to add to the complexity of the overall story. I liked this. It helped to add to the intensity. The ending was a good one. It ended on a high note.
I read that this book is going to be turned into a movie starring Hugh Jackman as Jake. I can kind of picture Hugh as being Jake. I will just have to wait and see how he actually does. The only reason that I am not 100% sure is because Jake while likeable is somewhat ditzy and I don't really see Hugh as this type. However if done right this will be a good movie. Don't wait Six Years to read this book. Pick up a copy now and read what all the hype is about.

Harlan Coben never disappoints! As always, could not put this book down and it had me guessing right up until the end!

I've read a number of the Myron Bolitar books by this author and loved them. This character is different and yet similar in many ways but I still enjoyed they storyline and was trying to figure out the twists and turns right up till the end! Good read if not particularly amazing.
I read one Harlan Coben book before this one and I immediately added almost all his others to my TBR. It was AWESOME. I was excited to pick up this one. But I DNF at 40 pages in.
Why, you ask?
Because the MC says "well" in the middle of every sentence. "And he was, well, dead." "And I was, well, over it."
LITERALLY THIS HAPPENS AT LEAST TWICE ON EVERY PAGE. I wanted to fucking hang myself. So I dropped it. Sue me.

I seem to pick up an HC book when I hit a reading lull and it jolts me back into reading again. This one was action packed and edge of my seat page turning. Definitely enjoyed escaping into Jake Fisher’s world for a little while.
How bad is this book? I bought it used for 25 cents at a local library book sale and it was a waste of a quarter. I am absolutely stunned by the number of favorable reviews here. The plot is twisted and ridiculous. The ending is beyond farcical. It is easily one of the worst books I've read in years.
Jake Sanders is a college professor who had a three month relationship with Natalie six years ago. The relationship ended when she abruptly dumped him to marry a former boyfriend, Todd. She asked him to leave her alone and not try to find her again, and for six years he has honored this promise whilst never being able to forget her. Then he sees comes across her husband's obituary and he is unable to resist attending the funeral in the hope of seeing Natalie again. However he discovers that Todd has left behind a very different wife, one to whom he has been married for many years, along with their teenage children. This leads Jake on a quest to find Natalie and to understand what happened to her - even though it quickly becomes apparent that nobody who knew her wants him to find her or even seems to remember him.
The premise of this thriller is intriguing but I felt that the execution was workmanlike and it hinges on the acceptance that six years after a brief relationship Jake would be willing to risk his job, his life and his friends' lives in a desperate bid to find someone who clearly wanted him to leave him alone. It just felt kind of ridiculous, as did the convoluted truth behind the mystery. I felt fairly indifferent to the book. It kept me reading, but it didn't keep me engrossed. I never felt any real tension, the coincidences were far too many and I could never believe in any of these characters whose first response to a situation is always wanting to kill somebody.
I was a big fan of Harlan Coben's early books - Tell No One, Gone for Good - but this one felt like a poor imitation and very generic in the Andrew Gross/Linwood Barclay mould. I've literally just finished it but I can feel myself already forgetting it.
