4.19 AVERAGE

This is perfectly fine and features some gorgeous art from Tim Sale, but Loeb just seems to almost never work for me as a writer. I found this often kind of boring or contrived, particularly the idea that what makes Superman "special" is that he is SO kind and SO optomistic and SO selfless - to me the core of the character is not those qualities making stand out from the rest of the world, but rather him having the power to act on those qualities. Lois here seems to portray him as special for caring, whereas he ideally is not that different from his fellow man other than the fact that he can face down the systems and oppressors of the people on an equal level that your average citizen would not be able to do out of fear of danger and reprecussion or simply out of insignificance in the eyes of those systems.

Anyways this is fine. I like when Lois Lane elbows that guy. Although I do want entertain his question of Superman as an extension of American imperalism that they immediately ignore because Loeb deems it to be not worth exploring or that he actually believes in "The American Way".
