its just so good man. a lot of people dislike Supermans design here, but i personally love it, hes big and muscular yet still so friendly
Tim Sales artwork peaked here in my opinion, in no small part due to the magnificent colouring done by Bjarne Hansen, just the way the sky and buildings around it are depicted, and how Superman always a has a trail of red blue and yellow behind him, its all so awesome
the story itself is also so.. kind? its so simple and down to Earth its hard not to love, it goes into why Superman does what he does, and how important the Kents are to Supermans ideals, it also does a great job of showing of Smallville as Clarks home, everyone knows who he is there.
Another theme explored that not a lot of people talk about is his alienation, he visits Smallville after feeling lonely and out of place in Metropolis which i think is very realistic and totally something he’d do
overall this is a beautiful story and up there with All Star for me

Beautiful illustrated and what a great story. Really shows Superman's midwestern upbringing and tender heart. I wish the writers of the latest Superman movie had used this as reference.

There are few Superman comics that I would re read. This one always hits the hope, the existencial dilema of why ppl are good or bad. The art is calming? I don’t know I just like it a lot.

Best Superman book I’ve read so far. The best Superman stories aren’t what Superman can do but what he can’t do.
